Kyle May

Kyle Robert May, 31 years young of Pompton Plains, NJ entered into eternal life on July 10, 2020.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a visitation for Kyle at the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Thursday July 16 from 6-8 PM. A Funeral service will be celebrated at 8 PM, and cremation will be held privately. Those attending the funeral service are asked to bring a small piece of artwork made in memory of Kyle, and to hold that piece throughout the funeral services until the end. Those unable to attend may watch the livestream service beginning at 7:45 PM eastern on Thursday by opening the Zoom app and entering Meeting ID- 89758766546 and password- 2800.

Kyle was born in Hackensack, NJ. At the age of 9 Kyle visited 5Pointz in Queens, New York. Kyle had the opportunity of meeting Jonathan “Meres One” Cohen, curator, artist, humanist and muralist. After moving to Pompton Plains where he graduated from Pequannock Township High School in 2006, Kyle’s New York 7 Train artwork was nominated to be the cover of the High School Yearbook.


Kyle vowed to do whatever it took to hone his skills as an artist. He made it his intention to seek experiences and places outside of his comfort zone; and to walk in others' shoes and to feel their hardships, to better express himself as an artist, as a friend, and as a human being.  Kyle took his art to tattooing, then on to designing and painting murals for commercial businesses.
Under his brand name 'Vanite Exclusive' Kyle designed custom made clothing and shoe wear.

Kyle was an instrumental hand in organizing the later Woodstock Reunions at Yasgur’s Farm, NY.

Kyle was widely known for his freestyle and modern hippie art, and he made friends wherever he roamed. Kyle was comfortable in any situations and needed no more than good friends, some paint and markers and any type of canvas to be happy. (If you stood still too long, you might become one of his peices of art) Kyle was never concerned about money, or profiting off of his passion for art; in fact he would give (and has given) the shirt off of his back to someone who needed it more. Those that knew Kyle, know that he lived life to the fullest and loved to make people smile. His warm personality always made you feel good and welcomed.


Kyle was the loving son of Robert M. May and Loretta (nee Kampka) Piscopo. He was the dear grandson of Bruce and Joyce Kampka and Ralph "Butch" and Ginny Smith. He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his treasured brother Brian May in June 2020.


Kyle was a free-spirited artist, humanist and muralist, that did what he loved and contributed to the universe the best way he knew how....ART. His warm friendship, big hugs and smile will be forever missed. Rest in peace, we love you Kyle.
