SUZANNE “BELLA” GIORDANO FERRIS

Suzanne, Bella to her grandchildren, Thomas Michael Ferris and Conchetta Susie Aronowitz, was born in Newark to Susie and Shine Giordano on August 15, 1942, and was always proud to be a “Down Neck” girl.

She attended Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Grammar School where she loved being in the choir and St. James High School where she perfected her jitterbug at school sock hops!

A true Giordano, five things were integral to her being: Family, Faith, Friends, Food, and Dancing!

Whether it was carrying on the family tradition of hosting the annual Christmas Eve Seven Fishes dinner, or making one of her always asked for dishes to bring to a family gathering, she never failed to delight the rest of the family.

In addition to the many friends she made during her working years  (She retired only this January and was already looking for a part-time job to keep busy!), she maintained many friends from both grammar school and high school and often hosted reunions at her home in Union.

A regular communicant during her entire life, she was a member of St. Theresa’s Parish in Kenilworth.

She loved both the faith and the traditions in the Catholic church and took part or attended  in many a May Crowning from elementary school in Mount Carmel to St. Theresa’s in Kenilworth.

She worked at the Elizabeth Board of Education, the Hillside Board of Education, and Jewish Family Services where she retired from after 30 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Aronowitz, and son-in-law Marc Aronowitz; her son Michael Ferris and his wife Mary Ferris; grandchildren Conchetta Susie Aronowitz and Thomas Michael Ferris, her sister Jeannie and brothers Ralph, John and Anthony; her former husband, Thomas Ferris; and many, many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and grand nephews.

We end here with dancing since we are sure that is where she probably is beginning her new experience. She continued to dance regularly until her sudden passing. She died but is not dead: just dancing in a different place. She will be missed but never forgotten, remembered always with happy memories, and treasured for all the love she left for us to spread around. We love you Bella!
