Sarah Johnson, 88, a long-time resident of the Union NJ area, went to be with the Lord on Monday the 4th of May 2020 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, NJ.

Sarah was born on March 17, 1932 to Hamp Devine and Rebecca Dingle in St. Stephen, South Carolina. Sarah was one of two children. She had a brother, Curney, who is deceased.  Sarah went to St. Stephens High School, where she received her elementary education. Sarah married Lawrence Johnson, and they both had 7 children. Sarah was a homemaker. She was a long-standing member of Lifechangers Gospel Church in South Orange, NJ where she served as an usher.  She was very generous, loved to cook good food and was serious about her Christian faith. She loved going to the movies, praying for her children, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had a beautiful smile that could light up a room.

Sarah is survived by her children: Yvonne Beachum, Sharon Madison, Pamela Olowe, Anthony Beachum (son-in-law), Oyebanjo Olowe (son-in-law); grandchildren: Scherazade Agurto, Shavonne Beachum, Nyree Beachum, Shalese Bettis, Tariq Johnson, Yewande Olowe, Ayobami Olowe; Great-grandchildren: Kia, Justine, Jonathan, Amber, Omar and Gabby; and great, great-grandchild Jordan. Sarah is predeceased by her husband Lawrence, her children Judy, Anthony, Lance and Randy and great grand, daughter, Imani.
