LUIGI FABIANO

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of our family patriarch, Luigi Fabiano, age 87 of Kenilworth, New Jersey. Luigi passed away in his sleep on Sunday, January 17, 2021.

He was born on September 24th, 1933 in Castelsilano, a small town in the province of Crotone in Calabria, Italy. Luigi lived in his beloved Italy for 18 years with his mother, Emilia Chiara (nee DeLuca), his father, Luigi and his siblings, Francesco, Giuseppe, Giovanni, Marietta, and Elisa. In the early 1950’s, his family moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, where Luigi met the love of his life, Domenica Mazzeo. During their 62 yearlong marriage, they raised three wonderful children. Pulled by an adventurous spirit in search of the American Dream, Luigi and his family permanently immigrated to the United States in 1975 with hopes to provide more opportunities for his family. Through the course of his 45 years in the U.S., he continued his trade as a fine carpenter while expanding his entrepreneurial spirit by owning several businesses.

A devoted husband and father, Luigi instilled the value of a good education, honest hard work, and perseverance in his children - Albert Fabiano M.D., Trial Court Administrator Silvia Fabiano Gonzalez (Retired), and Businessman Carlo Fabiano. He was extremely proud of their achievements and successes.

Luigi was a fierce protector of his family. Always extraordinarily generous and loving, Luigi regaled his children and grandchildren with countless stories of his life, often times attempting to impart a lesson or provide sage advice to his engaged audience. Luigi had a passion for life, an infectious laugh, and a mischievous gleam in his eyes. He loved to make people laugh and was always the life of the party. Luigi had a love of fine dining, good wine, and Scuderia Ferrari. He was a Formula 1 enthusiast, who enjoyed watching soccer games, reading, playing chess, and a good game of cards.  He loved to sing, and he encouraged his grandchildren to appreciate all things Italian. Truly nothing made him happier than to be surrounded by his family, of whom he was immensely proud. Luigi could often be found holding court, surrounded by people listening to his clever anecdotes and funny stories. He enjoyed socializing and meeting new people. Those who knew and loved him will never forget his charming character, sharp wit, avid storytelling, and mischief.  Luigi was a faithful husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a family man who will be missed dearly.

Luigi is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Domenica, son Albert and wife Beatrice, daughter Silvia and partner John Klandt, son Carlo and wife Leticia, grandchildren Arielle, Gianna, Michael, Aaron and Austin. He is also survived by his sisters, Elisa and Maria, his brother, Giovanni, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

The Family wishes and encourages everyone to stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.  In lieu of attendance your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
