Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Lourdes moved to Brooklyn in 1956, and has been a Newark Ironbound resident since 1958. She and her husband owned and operated the Spanish Tavern restaurant from 1963-68, and later Escorial Bar and Grill in Newark until 1983.
Lourdes was a spectacular chef, and was a beloved second mother to many. Mrs. V's home was always open for friends to visit. Nani spoke her mind, and said what needed to be heard. She helped countless friends and family members during their times of need. Nani also deeply cherished time spent with her grandchildren.
Lourdes was the beloved wife of 35 years to Adolfo Vazquez until his passing in 1993. She was the loving mother of Lourdes Teixeira and her husband Jose R., Rocio Lopes and her husband Herminio and Adolph "Fito" Vazquez and his wife Yasmin; treasured grandmother of Tiffany, Bryan, Karina, Michael, Nicholas, Maxine-Kelly and Spencer; adoring great-grandmother of Kayla and Bryan, Jr., and dear sister of Dacio Pasarell and his wife Dr. Barbara Novelo, Rosi Salinas and Claudia Sanchez.
