Louis R. Puopolo, age 69, of Springfield, NJ, passed away peacefully due to complications relating to the Coronavirus on April 10, 2020 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ

Louis was born to Louis and Julia Puopolo at Margaret Hayes Hospital in Jersey City, NJ on April 23, 1950.  The family moved to Springfield in the early 1950’s and remained long time residents of the community.  He attended school at St James the Apostle School, then onto Union Catholic High School and Union County Vo-Tech.  He married the love of his life Judith, on October 4, 1975. He has owned his own business as a Land Surveyor, Louis R. Puopolo Survey for over 25 years. He was an active member of the Seton Hall Prep Father’s Club for over 18 years.

Louis is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Julia Puopolo.

Louis is survived by, his wife, Judy Puopolo, daughter Nicole and son-in-law Edward Araujo, son Louis and daughter-in-law Katie Puopolo and his grandchildren Lea and Carmine Araujo and Tessa Puopolo.  His countless friends who are family, Vinny D’Antonio, the little brother he never had and always wanted, his Prep brothers, Scranton Crew, L6 tailgate, and many business colleagues.

While Louis, “Big Lou” as he was fondly known to so many, may not have been famous.  The world may not have known his name, in the eyes of his children and grandchildren he was the world.  Loved immensely by his wife Judy, idolized by his son Louis, adored most by his grandchildren Lea, Carmine, and Tessa.  Papa was by far his favorite of all his names.

Big Lou cherished his family and the friends who had become family.  When he wasn’t completing a survey he could usually be found laughing and joking with his friends and family.  He loved to vacation, spend time at the beach with his family, going on back road adventures with his Harley Davidson buddies, and enjoyed 5:00/Summertime!  He was a lifelong NY Giants fan and season ticket holder who, on Sundays in the fall could always be found at MetLife Stadium with the L6 tailgate crew.

He was one in a million, the kind of man you are instantly drawn to.  The memories shared will live on through his wife, children, grandchildren and countless friends and colleagues.

A memorial service will be held at a later date when we can all be together once again.
