Joseph P. Galante of Orange, N.J. passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2020.

Funeral Services will be held privately at the Galante Funeral Home 54 Roseland Avenue, Caldwell NJ on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. A Memorial Mass and celebration of life will be held at a future date.

Born in Newark, N.J., he lived in the Roseville Section of Newark before moving to Orange, N.J. 55 years ago. Joe served in the US Army for 2 years during the Korean War from 1953-1954. During his time in the service he received The Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal, and The National Defense Service Medal.

Joe was employed as an inspector for the N. J. Motor Vehicle Inspection System for 40 years and received a promotion to investigator of privately owned and licensed motor vehicle inspection operations throughout New Jersey. Thereafter, he worked with Parsons private motor vehicle inspection and licensing company until he retired in 2001. Joe was a member of the VFW Post in West Orange, NJ., Our Lady of the Valley Church Primetimers and the OLV Church in Orange, N.J.

Joe is survived by and was the husband of Jeannette “Tina” Galante (nee Caparazzo) for 59 years, and is the father of son, Todd M. Galante, Esq. and his wife Alena, and daughter, Valerie Stefanelli and her husband Cesare. He is the grandfather of his most beloved grandchildren, Nina and Nicholas Stefanelli.  He is also survived by his beloved sisters-in-law Mary Caparazzo and Laura Galante, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their respective children.

He was predeceased by his parents, Patrick and Marie (nee Degner)  Galante, as well as his siblings Ida Cassidy, William Galante, George Galante, Rose Brady, Patrick Galante, Anthony Galante, Frank Galante, and Marie Mastellone.  Joe was known as a generous, loving and strong individual with a great sense of humor.
