Jose Ramon Sanchez

Jose Ramon Sanchez passed away on August 21, 2021 at the age of 79 surrounded by his family at his home in Lake Worth, Florida.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Ramon at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave Union, NJ on Wednesday September 8, 2021 from 4 - 8 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Church in Springfield, NJ. on Thursday September 9, 2021 at 10 AM.

Entombment to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, NJ.

Ramon was born on in Dorno, Spain to the late Manuel Sanchez and Argentina Quiroga Sanchez. He immigrated to the US in 1963 and his family settled in Newark's Ironbound section. That is there where he met his wife Maria. They were married in 1970 and moved to Hillside, NJ where they raised their family. Ramon was a Longshoreman at Maher Terminals for 37 years before retiring in 2004. After retiring they split time between Toms River, NJ and Lake Worth, FL until making Florida their permanent home in 2017.

Ramon enjoyed playing cards at Centro Orensano social club (socio #23) where he was a longtime member, travelling back to his hometown in Spain, riding his bike, going to the beach and keeping his pool spotless. He was extremely handy and had the ability to fix just about anything. He was a quiet and simple man who lived his life for his family.

Ramon is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Maria (Esteves Domingues) Sanchez and their daughters Aimee and her husband Frank, Jennifer and her husband Victor, Leslie and her husband Pete. He was an adoring grandfather to Alex, Cristian, Allegra, Evan, Isabella and Victoria.

He was a loving brother to Rosa and her late husband Daniel Domingues, Margarita and her husband Pepe Iglesias, Benjamin and his wife Dolores (Veloso), Celest and her husband Joe Quintana, Marisa and her husband Rick Hodgdon, Flora and her husband Jim Cunha, and Emily. He was a dear brother-in-law to Aurora, Flory and her husband Richard Cook. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
