Obituary

Carlos M. Del Valle

Carlos Manuel Del Valle, who loved and lived loudly and without reservations, passed away on Feb. 13, 2021. He was 74. Carlos will live eternally in the hearts and minds of those who loved him.

He was born on Dec. 10, 1946 to Carlos Manual Del Valle and Carmen A. Lebron in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Starting then, he lived a million different lives. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, drove taxi cabs while attending Queens College for his B.A. in Accounting, worked as an airplane mechanic, and travelled the world. Later in life, he spent decades working at the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. After more than 30 years, Carlos retired there as a workforce manager.

More than anything else, Carlos was a devoted father and husband. He was stubborn and proud, but never without merit. Somehow, he had an answer to every question and a fix to every problem encountered by his daughter, Verónica Del Valle, and his wife, Grisel Maduro. They will spend the rest of their lives missing his endless stories and attempting to honor his memory.

The family asks, to respect the lives lost during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, that people maintain safe social distance at the funeral, wear masks, and refrain from attending if feeling ill.
“If you plan on attending the service, please notify the family first, in order to keep attendance low because of the pandemic.”

In lieu of flowers,  please make donations in Carlos’s name to the National Kidney Foundation: https://www.kidney.org/donation
