Anne W. Wolff

On Sunday, March 14th,  2021 Anne Winifred Wolff left us to join her beloved husband Howard in the heavenly world of God who she so loved and honored.  Anne was born in Butte, Montana and at the age of two, moved to Vailsburg, Newark, New Jersey where she grew up. Her family included her father, Edward Kelleher, who was born in Limerick, Ireland, her mother, Winifred Douglas, who was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and one brother, Lawrence Kelleher.  Anne has fond childhood memories of spending time with family, having had the most loving parents, along with her brother, Larry, whom she always stayed close to.  She attended Our Lady of the Valley High School in Vailsburg, Newark where she graduated magna cum laude and valedictorian of her class. After graduating, Anne worked at Prudential Insurance Company in Newark where she met Howard Wolff, who would become her future husband. The couple were married on May 22, 1948. Anne adored her loving husband Howard, who she affectionally called “Howie Baby” and their marriage lasted forty-six years. Together, they created three children; Greg, Gary (R.I.P.), and Joanne. Anne has five grandchildren; Lisa, Tracy, Melody, Michael, and Philip; and five great-grandchildren; Bennett, Anna, Elza, Falon, and Brooklyn. Some of her most memorable family vacations include; spending two weeks every Summer at the Jersey Shore with family, and later in life, traveling to Montana, Sault St. Marie, and Florida with her brother Larry.   After Anne’s children were older, she went back to work at Rutgers University (Newark Campus) as the secretary to the Zoology Department and worked there for twenty-plus years before retiring. Some of her leisure time activities included solving both crossword and crypto puzzles, which she completed with perfection, and most of all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Later in life, while living in a senior village, Anne enjoyed Women’s Club, bingo, Rosary, and Atlantic City trips. Additionally, she always loved music and could sing all the songs from her time.  Anne is most grateful for her family, friends, and faith. Something she’s learned over her lifetime that she’d like to share with the younger generation is “Be kind, don’t judge, always do the best you can, and that, prayer can’t hurt, but it sure can help.” Anne spent her last few years at Manor by the Sea in Ocean Grove,  NJ where  she was truly  loved and treated like family.   There, they loved her sweet spirit, which was captured in her sparkling blue eyes and the things she liked to do.  Some of her favorite ones include Rosary and Catholic Communion Service, and entertainment. She loved music and remembers  the words to all the old songs from her generation. Anne is truly missed by her Manor By the Sea family, by her life long friends, and of course by her immediate family and relatives.  She was a true lady loved by all.  It was an honor to know her and to be considered her friend.
