Vicente Veloso passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, warmth, and devotion to his family.
Born in Spain in 1944, Vicente built a life that beautifully bridged two continents. After marrying his beloved wife, Carmen, they immigrated to the United States to begin their journey together. A skilled and dedicated carpenter for over 40 years, Vicente used his own two hands to build many houses, most notably his own family’s cherished home in Nutley, New Jersey.
Vicente was a man who appreciated life's simple, everyday joys. He was never happier than when surrounded by friends and family, sharing great meals and pouring glasses of his own homemade wine. His welcoming personality meant there was always room for one more at his table, a spirit well-loved by his community in Newark and his extended family in Spain. Family was everything to Vicente. Growing up in Spain as the youngest of five and the only boy, he was affectionately known as the favorite. His three surviving sisters—Julia, Minda, and Jesusa—adored him and made sure he stayed spoiled well into adulthood. He poured that same affection into his own home.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; his daughter, Eva; his son, Vicente Manuel; and his two grandchildren, Irene and Antonio, who brought him immense pride and joy. Vicente will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the homes he built and the hearts of everyone who loved him. He will make his final journey home to Spain to be laid to rest alongside his parents, Manuel and Adelaida.
A gathering to honor Vicente will be held on Saturday, September 5, at Galante Funeral Home, located at 2800 Morris Ave, Union, NJ 07083. Visiting hours are from 3:00–5:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM.
