Thomas Sparkes

d. December 2, 2023

Parsippany, NJ

Thomas Sparkes, 66 of Parsippany passed away on December 2, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at a later date, with arrangements entrusted to the Galante Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Born in Montclair, Thomas was raised in Caldwell and lived in Parsippany for many years. He was a Senior Vice-President for Valley National Bank for 37 years until his retirement in 2022.

Thomas was an avid golfer, and treasured time spent out on the course with his sons and close friends. A season ticket holder of the New York Jets, Thomas was a huge fan, but most enjoyed the tailgate parties before the games. A member of the NoDell Bowling League, he loved his teammates, and time spent at the lanes. Tom was born to run, and proudly competed in the New York Marathon four times.

Thomas liked to travel, and his favorite places to visit were by far Las Vegas for the attractions and Maine for the tranquility. He also loved to be outdoors, even if that meant simply working in the yard or around the house.

Thomas was the beloved husband of Dale (nee Blakely) Sparkes; loving father of Steven Sparkes, Scott Sparkes (Amanda) and Skyler Sparkes (Lilian). He was the dear brother of Jay Sparkes (late Liz), John Sparkes (Vicky), Teddy Sparkes, Kathy DiGiacamo, Judy Norman (Cort), Liz Smith and the late Timmy Sparkes. He was the cherished son-in-law of Richard Blakely, brother-in-law of Donna Blakely and Richard Blakely, and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and by his adoring, faithful dogs Kobi, Shady and Chelsey.
