Salvatore "Sonny" Calabrese

Salvatore V. "Sonny" Calabrese, 90 of Union passed away at home on May 4, 2019.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church, 1212 Kelly St. Union on Tuesday at 9:15 AM. Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union.

Born in Newark, Sonny was a longtime Ironbound resident until moving to Union 26 years ago. After serving in the National Guard, he worked as a taxi and limousine driver throughout New Jersey and New York City for many years. A huge people person, Sonny could often be found chatting up friends and neighbors in Union Center. He especially loved being with his family, and looked forward to Sunday dinners with them each week. He also held all animals, especially horses, near to his heart.

Salvatore was predeceased by his parents James and Jean (nee Sagretella) Calabrese. He was the loving brother of Anita Calabrese, and cherished uncle of Dana and Kristin Sisbarro.
