Devoted her life to her family.

Rosina Farro (nee D’Uva), 95, passed away on Monday, July 28th at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 28th, 1929 in Guasto, Castelpetroso, Italy, Rosina brought her warmth, strength, grace, and perseverance to the United States in 1960 when she settled in Newark. Rosina lived in Maplewood and Chester with her husband and lived in Warren for the past 22 years. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her deep roots in tradition and the kindness she shared with everyone she met. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. 

A woman of devout faith, she prayed the Rosary every night and attended weekly Mass. 

Beloved wife of the late Giuseppe Farro, mother of Carmela LaVerghetta and her late husband Sebastiano, Silvia Farro-Platzer and her husband Gary, Andrew Farro and his wife Cathy, Valerie Mariano and her husband Domenic. Very Proud Grandmother of Nick (Kelly), Joseph (Alana), David, Joseph, Carmen, Mark (Daria), Sophia and Alexandra, and Great-Grandmother of Nicholas (Maggie), Cristina and Marissa. Daughter of the late Gennaro and Cristina D’Uva. Sister of Giuseppe D’Uva and his wife Nicolina, the late Libera Armenti, Carmela Armenti, and Nicolino D’Uva. 

Living on her 63 acre farm in Chester, Rosina nurtured life, enjoying her gardens, raising chickens, and opening her farm each fall for friends and family to share in the harvest of pumpkins and corn. She thoroughly delighted in driving around the farm in her golf cart. 

After the death of her beloved husband Giuseppe, Rosina became a spirited traveler alongside her family, embracing the world with open arms. She especially enjoyed her cruise to Northern Europe visiting seven different countries. Each year, Rosina also traveled to Italy to visit her sisters Libera and Carmela in their hometown, in Castelpetroso, cherishing the bond with her roots. Rosina’s legacy of love, family spirit, and hosting endless luncheons and dinners will forever be cherished.

A visitation for Rosina will be held on Wednesday, July 30th, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Galante Funeral Home at 2800 Morris Ave in Union.

Mass will be held on Thursday, July 31st, at St. Rose of Lima at 10:30am located at 312 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover.

Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park, located at 1500 Stuyvesant Ave in Union.
