Rosario Farro

Rosario Farro, 90 of Toms River passed away on Sunday October 19, 2025.

Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Saturday October 25 at 9am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Verona at 10:30am. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Visitation will be on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the funeral home.

Born in Guasto, Castelpetroso, Italy on July 27, 1935, he immigrated to the United States in 1949 at the age of 14.

Rosario became a barber at the age of 17 and opened his first barber shop in Newark, NJ. Rosario was a well known, esteemed barber with some clients including The Four Seasons and some NFL players, just to name a few. 

In 1959, he married his wife Mafalda (nee Alfano) and the couple settled in Verona, where they lived for 40 beautiful years. He then went on to running his own construction company, Rosario Paving.

After retiring in 1989, Rosario enjoyed running his Italian-American social clubs and spent the last 35 years of his life in Toms River. However, he never gave up his love of the barber shop and continued for years cutting his family and friends' hair. 

Rosario was the beloved husband of 66 years to Mafalda (Muffy) Farro. He was the proud father of Denise Collins and her husband Albert, Andrew Farro and his wife Melanie, and Dean Farro and his wife, the late Lisa. He was a very proud grandfather to Alicia and her husband Mike, Albert and his wife Lindsey, Danielle and Marla and her husband Rick; and great-grandfather to his eight great-grandchildren Michael, Christopher, Alexandra, Harper, Penelope, Axel, Ricky and Avery. Rosario was the son of the late Andrea Onorato Farro and Carmela (nee Cifelli) Farro, and brother of the late Francesco Farro, Giuseppe Farro and Eva LoRusso. Rosario will also be deeply missed by many nieces and nephews.
