Rocco J. Burdi

Rocco James Burdi of Union, NJ passed from this  life on April 17, 2020.  Rocco was the son of the late Nicholas and Concetta Burdi. He was one of 9 siblings, all of whom pre-deceased him. Rocco was the husband of the late Marie Theresa ( née LoCicero). He leaves behind his companion Nancy Gasparene, son Frank and wife Eliza, daughter Kathleen and husband Carmine, son Joseph and wife Elizabeth, and daughter Karen.  He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild, along with many nieces and nephews.

Rocco was a proud veteran of the Korean War.  He spent the first half of his work career working alongside his brothers at Union Paving.  For the next 20 years, he worked for the Township of Union Public Works Department.  Rocco loved the  outdoors and was an avid hunter all of his life. In his later years, he fished the ocean off Long Beach Island and was always looking for the next big striper.    He also loved handicapping horses and enjoyed Saturday’s at Monmouth Park with family.

Rocco loved to cook and one of his greatest joys was sitting around the dinner table with his family.  He enjoyed telling stories from his childhood and early years. He had a great sense of humor and was a man of  true integrity.  He will be greatly missed for his kindness, generosity and love of family and friends.

Due to the current pandemic, burial through Galante Funeral Home was held  privately.
