Robert S. Rapa, 88 of West Caldwell passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Robert at the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Wednesday September 2 from 2-3:45 PM. His burial with military honors will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery at 4 PM.
Born in Summit, Robert was a longtime West Caldwell resident. After graduating high school, Robert enlisted in the US Army and served as a Private First Class in the Korean Conflict. He was a truck driver for Bamberger's Department Store, and was also a correction's officer for many years prior to his retirement.
Above all, Robert cherished his family, and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert was the beloved husband to Dolores (nee Maillaro) Rapa; loving father of Renee Faller, Charles Rapa and his wife Suzanne and Dolores Maya and her husband Jim. He was the treasured grandfather of Robert Faller, Jeff Faller and his wife Melissa, Rebecca Rotondo and her husband John, Christine Foley, Melissa Foley, Skylar Sturniolo, Joshua Maya, Justin Maya and Jason Maya; and adoring great-grandfather of Nathan and Harrison. He was predeceased by his brothers Charles Rapa and Richard Rapa.
