In Loving Memory of
Redempta S. Bertulfo
February 18, 1931 – October 15, 2025
Redempta S. Bertulfo, 94, of Union, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, at South Mountain Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Dagami, Leyte, Philippines, on February 18, 1931, Redempta lived a long, full life marked by strength, compassion and love. A survivor of World War II, she faced every challenge with faith and resilience.
She enjoyed watching wrestling, game shows, and the news, as well as playing Sunka and Mah Jong. She also loved coloring and word search puzzles. In her younger years, she found joy in fishing, cooking adobo and jello, and planting vegetables.
Redempta was a strong-willed, generous, caring, and courageous woman who devoted her life to those she loved. Though she never married or had children of her own, she cared for her nieces and nephews, including their children.
Nining became an important part of the Thomas family—living with Jordan and Teresa Thomas and helping care for their son, Jeffrey Thomas, from the time he was six months old. She later also cared for Jeffrey and Melissa’s son, Christopher. Jeffrey can truly be considered the son she never had in life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Leopoldo Bertulfo and Maria Sobremonte, and her three siblings, Reinaldo Sr, Rosvida, and Restituto. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.
Redempta will remain in the hearts of all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
