Ralph was a butcher for various shops for 50 years, retiring in 1994.

An Army veteran of WW II, Ralph was one of the hundreds of thousands of soldiers who took part in the landings on Normandy Beach during the Second World War. In addition to the landings on Normandy, he participated in campaigns in Central Europe, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and the epic Battle of the Bulge. He remained in Europe until after the surrender of Germany.

It was during one of these battles that he and some fellow comrades were driving through a town they thought was no longer occupied by German troops. They soon discovered the town was still occupied. They abandoned their truck and sought refuge. German civilians took them into their homes and hid them until the German troops had left the town several weeks later.

Husband of the late Viola (nee Duda) Brother of the late Antoinette Carlucci, Gertrude Lovallo & Lucy De Masi.
