Raphael Philip Merola, Jr., 72, of Scotch Plains, NJ, passed away at home on Monday, May 18, 2020, surrounded by his loving family.

Phil was born and raised in Elizabeth and lived in Scotch Plains with his family for 12 years. Phil worked for Mountain Mortgage Corp. for 30 years. Deeply devoted to his family, Phil was happy when they were happy; and especially loved spending time with his little girl.

Phil as the beloved husband of NikkiAnn Merola; loving father of Philip, Michele and Raphaela; dear step-father of Nicholas; cherished grandfather of Simone Severyn and Michael Wewna. He was also the dear son-in-law of Jerry and Patty Mignone, brother-in-law of Jason and Cara Mignone, and uncle to their three sons.
