Philip Loria

Philip Loria, of Union, New Jersey, passed away on August 18, 2026.

Philip was the son of Angelo and Sophie Loria. He spent the first part of his childhood in Newark, New Jersey, before his family moved to New Providence in the late 1960s. He spent the remainder of his youth in New Providence and graduated from New Providence High School class of ‘74.

Philip began his working career as a third-generation butcher alongside his brothers at the family butcher shop, A Loria & Sons, on South Orange Avenue in Newark. He remained involved in the family business until the late 1980s, when he began a career in automotive sales. He went on to spend nearly 35 years working as a sales manager.

He had a lifelong love of golf and spent many years enjoying time on the course. Those who knew him best will remember his quick sense of humor, his charm, his strong personality, and above all, his love of his family and friends. His grandchildren held a particularly special place in his life. He loved them deeply, took great pride in each of them, and valued being a presence in their lives and sharing in the moments that came with watching them grow.

Philip married his high school sweetheart, Ginger Creed, and together they had two children, Michael and Michelle. Although their marriage eventually came to an end, Philip and Ginger remained very close and shared a lasting friendship throughout the years.

Philip is survived by his brothers, Greg Javas (Linda), Dino Javas (Maria), Paul Loria (Kathleen), and Peter Loria. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Loria, and is also survived by Joe’s wife, Linda.

He is also survived by his dear friend, Ginger Loria; his son, Michael Loria and his wife, Dana, and their children, Athena, Nikolas, and Angela; and his daughter, Michelle Almonte and her husband, Luis, and their children, Jacqueline, Alexandra, and Olivia.

He is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A memorial gathering for Philip will be held on Sunday, August 30th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Galante Funeral Home located at 2800 Morris Avenue in Union. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 3:15 p.m.
