Nikolaus Karl Keller, age 71 of Union, New Jersey died on February 10, 2023, surrounded by family.
Born in Karlstadt, Germany, he lived most of his life in Union, New Jersey where he was raised, and then resided raising his own children.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Nikolaus at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Wednesday February 15, 2023 from 4-6pm.
Nikolaus graduated from Marshall University where he studied marketing and sociology. He enjoyed playing football and being with his ZBT fraternity. During his years there he helped develop Touchline, a peer counseling service, where he met his wife.
In his earlier years, Nikolaus worked for Wakefern Food Corporation, where he spent 22 years in various roles. He made friends in every department and maintained many after retirement.
A sports enthusiast, he loved and played basketball, football, and softball throughout most of his life. In high school, he and his track teammates broke the record for the 440 relay. He also lettered in football and wrestling. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and made sure no one around him ever questioned his loyalty. He was also an avid sports fan of his alma mater Marshall University. He spent much of his time collecting and trading sport cards, competing in strategy games, and visiting Atlantic City; and being on a lake fishing was always where he dreamed of being.
He is survived by his beloved wife Anita Keller, and by his loving brother Stephen Keller and his wife Kathleen Keller, and his loving children David Keller and Nikole Keller, and devoted grandchildren Julianna Keller and Antonio Keller.
