Nicholas C. Scibetta, 90 of West Caldwell passed away at home on January 31, 2024.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Nick at the Galante Funeral Home, 54 Roseland Ave. Caldwell on Wednesday February 7 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Lucy's Church in Newark on Thursday at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Born in Newark, Nick was a longtime West Caldwell resident. He was the owner and operator of United Rental in West Orange for over 50 years until his retirement in 2020.
Nick's creativity knew no bounds, and he could make anything out of just about anything- notably his birdhouses made from old kitchen tables! Nick was so proud of his hermatite switch, which he created, and remains up in space to this day. He was a fantastic storyteller, and his family's recordkeeper, having accumulated tons of photos, genealogy records, and keepsakes from generations of family members.
Nick was a Publisher's Clearing House player for over 30 years. He would dress in his best and wait by the window for the giant PCH check to arrive at his doorstep, and even came up with a jingle to play for them if he ever won. Above all, Nick treasured time spent with his family, as they meant the absolute world to him.
The son of the late Benjamin and Frances (Mattina) Scibetta, Nick was the beloved husband of the late Kun Scibetta, and brother of the late Joseph Scibetta. He is survived by his sister in-law Cheryl Scibetta, step-daughter Jennifer Scibetta, his loving niece and God-Daughter Lori Scibetta Brennan, dear nephews Tyler, Justin and Jarred, and by his eight adored great-nieces and great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Nick 's memory may be made to HomeWell Care Services, 1600 Route 22, Suite 301 Union, NJ 07083, in gratitude for the kind end-of-life care they provided.
