Michael A. Tischio, 82 of Brick passed away on August 3, 2025.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Mike at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Wednesday August 6 from 3-5 & 7-9 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Lucy's Church in Newark on Thursday at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Glendale Cemetery.
Born in Newark, Michael has been a resident of Brick since 1965. A graduate of Kean University with a degree in engineering, Mike worked for Otis Elevators as a civil engineer doing surveys for modernization, and later worked for Schindler Elevators as an engineer until his retirement in 2015. A distinguished mentor to many, he was also an instructor at Lyons Institute, as well as operating several other businesses including a taxi company and burglar alarm sales.
Mike was a devoted member of the Knights of Columbus, and enjoyed cooking especially when it came to hosting friends and family at his home on special occasions. Michael treasured time spent traveling, and had fond memories of taking his children to Florida on vacation, and to New York City at Christmas time. He also had beautiful memories of trips to Europe with his loving wife, and cherished time at his condo in Myrtle Beach. When he wasn't traveling, Michael found peace and relaxation at the Manasquan Inlet, boating or having a day at the beach.
Above all, Michael was a proud father and grandfather; he found ways to forge a special relationship with each of his children and grandchildren. He will be sorely missed.
The devoted son of the late Benjamin and Amelia Tischio, Michael was the beloved husband of Karen (nee Walters) Tischo; loving father of Deborah Simsen and her husband Rich, Michael Tischio and his wife Amy, Ronald Tischio and his wife Sharon, Gina Tischio, Daniel Tischio and his wife Cece, Nicole Bennett and her husband Charles, Benjamin Tischio and his wife Christina and Lisa Tischio. He was the proud grandfather of Alex, Valentino, Daniella, Charlie, ArieAnna, Amelia, Michael and Nicholas. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Tischio and is also survived by his niece Tammy Polidoro, nephew Jeff Tischio, and by his fur grandbabies Doodles, Mace and Blade.
