Michael Fernandez Jr. 85, of Newark died on Sunday March 17 ^th , 2013, at The  Cranford Health and Extended Care Center .

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave. Union, on Thursday at 8 am. The funeral mass is at St. Michael Church 40 Alden St. Cranford, at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery 1000 E. Edgar Rd. in Linden. Visitation will been Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Born in Johnstown, Pa, he lived in Elizabeth, Union and Newark. He was a custodian for St. Thomas Aquinas Church on Ludlow St. in Newark for many years.

Michael was the son of the late Margaret (nee Sefchick), and Michael Fernandez Sr. He was the brother of Ralph Fernandez and his wife Roseann, Richard Fernandez and his wife Ellen, the late Henry Fernandez, Dolores Conklin, and Ethel Fernandez. He was also the uncle of Ronald Conklin, John Fernandez, and Donna Biegert.
