Mary C. Lordi (nee Cecere) 93 passed away peacefully on Saturday January 7, 2012 at Inglemoor Rehabilitation and Care Center in Livingston.


The Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home 54 Roseland Ave., Caldwell on Wednesday at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass is at St. Raphael Church, Livingston at 10 AM.


Entombment is at Hollywood Memorial Park. Visitation is on Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM. Visit galantefh.com.


Born in Newark Mary spent many wonderful years living in Spring Lake Heights before returning to Essex County to be closer to her daughter and grandsons.


Mary was a devoted mother and homemaker. Throughout her life she was dedicated to helping others. She was active in many volunteer groups. The years she worked with St. Mary’s Guild were particularly meaningful to her.


Mary was a good friend to many who will miss her very much.


Mary was married to the late Joseph P. Lordi. Prior to his passing in 1983, he was the former Essex County Prosecutor and Chairman of the NJ Casino Control Commision.


She is survived by her daughter Linda and her husband The Honorable Dennis M. Cavanaugh, her beloved grandsons Joseph and Sean and Dennis’ children Christopher Cavanaugh and Leigh Rose and their families. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her sister, Sister Vincent Cecere.


She was predeceased by her parents Nicola and Amilia Iorio and her siblings, Martin, Joseph, Ida Lomenzo, Rose Rotunno and James Catena as well as her best friend, Connie Montefusco.


The family wishes to thank the staff of Inglemore for the loving care they gave to her.
