Maria Garruto

Maria Garruto (nee DiFonzo), 94 of Elizabeth passed away on February 7, 2019.

Funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Monday at 8:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Church in Elizabeth at 10 AM. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park. Visitation is on Sunday from 2-6 PM at the funeral home.

Maria was born in Vallata, Italy, she came to the United States in 1970 and lived in Elizabeth.  Maria was a seamstress for Hilton Manufacturing Linden before retiring in 1985. Maria was also a member of the Vallatese Ladies Society of Elizabeth.

Maria was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Garruto. Loving mother of Gerardo Garruto, Nancy Di Cosmo and her husband Tony, and Irma Garruto Dinspechin. Grandmother of Sabrina and Robert De Blasio, Josephine and Eric Ferreira, Crystal and John Ponticello, Justin, Andrew, Gianfranco, Davide, and Elisa; and was the great-grandmother of Samantha.
