Lynn E. Belvedere – Strathearn, 73, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 21st at Inglemoor Care Center of Livingston. She was a devoted wife and friend, remembered fondly by all who knew her. Born October 12, 1952, in Newark, New Jersey, Lynn was the cherished daughter of Anthony and Virginia Belvedere. She was raised in West Orange and attended Montclair University, where she earned both her bachelor’s and a master’s degrees in counseling.
Lynn dedicated forty years to the field of education, beginning her career teaching primary grades in Passaic. Her professional journey included leadership roles at Suburban School and St. Peter’s School of Essex Fells as Head Mistress before joining the public school system, where she concluded her career at Millburn High School as Student Assistance Coordinator, retiring in 2016. Lynn consistently served as a mentor and advisor to students and staff throughout her tenure. Her commitment extended beyond her professional responsibilities through involvement with organizations such as the Governor’s Council on Drugs and Alcohol, Partnership for a Drug-Free NJ, Juvenile Conference Committee of Essex County, Millburn Municipal Alliance, Peer Leadership, and as a leader in the DARE program. Lynn also trained teachers in drug and alcohol education curricula. Upon retirement, she received a proclamation from the New Jersey State Senate recognizing her exemplary service to the Garden State.
Lynn is survived by her husband, Glenn D. Strathearn; her sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Charles Taylor; her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Patricia Belvedere; her sister-in-law and brother in-law, Nancy and Robert Petrullo; and nieces and nephew, Sara Belvedere, Cara Petrullo and Eric and Briana Petrullo; and numerous cousins and relatives. She is additionally survived by many wonderful friends and colleagues from throughout her life.

An interment service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Restland Memorial Park, 77 Deforest Avenue, East Hanover, NJ. For those attending at the cemetery, please gather at the cemetery office by the entrance gate. From there we will proceed to the burial site. Following the service, attendees are invited for a gathering of remembrance and fellowship.
