Louis G. Jenkins, 84 of Forked River passed away at Rose Garden in Toms River on June 2, 2024.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Cryptside Service for Louis at Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave. Union on Thursday June 27 at 10:30 AM. Arrangements are in the care of the Galante Funeral Home.
Born in Scranton, PA, Louis was raised in Newark and lived in Irvington before becoming a resident of Union for 25 years. He and his wife settled in Forked River in 2001.
Louis was a proud veteran of the US Navy, and later worked at Worthington Pump. He was President of the Steelworkers Union Local #8228 for over 20 years, and finally a business agent for the International Steelworkers Union until his retirement 18 years ago. Louis cherished family above all else, and there was nothing he would not do for his wonderful grandchildren.
Louis was the beloved husband of the late Frances Jenkins; loving father of Louis Jenkins and his wife Tina and Kenneth Jenkins and his wife Robin; proud grandfather of Kaitlin Franz and her husband Chris, Candice Schuster and her husband Dan, Kenny Jenkins, Kayla Lyons and her husband Kevin, Marisa Jenkins and Emily Jenkins; and adoring great-grandfather of Aurora, William, James, Maggie and Theo. He is also survived by his sister Joan Sochaski, and was predeceased by his brothers Thomas Jenkins and Donald Jenkins.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
