Joseph A. Petrick, 96 of Union passed away on March 24, 2023.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Joseph at the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Sunday March 26 from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Michael's Church in Union on Monday at 10:15 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Joseph lived in Irvington until moving to Union in 1966. He proudly served in the US Marines during World War II. Joe worked as a stationary operating engineer for Merck in Rahway for many years until his retirement in 1995. Joe enjoyed trips to someplace warm, especially the Florida Keys. He was an avid walker, and a fantastic story teller. Joe also had a wonderful sense of humor. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family.
The son of the late Jacob and Frances Petrick, Joe was the beloved husband of the late Rose; loving father of Mark Petrick (Jen Mobley) and Elizabeth Ferreira (Frank). He was the dear grandfather of Nicole Min (Dan), Rose Ferreira (Sebastian Balve) and Frankie Ferreira; and adoring great-grandfather of Jacob and Lucas. He is also survived by his siblings Frank Petrick (Kathy) and Theresa Kopko. Joe was predeceased by Josephine Petrick, who helped to raise him.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or to the Salvation Army.
