Joseph S. Macchia

Joseph S. Macchia, 76 of Union, NJ passed away on February 26, 2024 at his home. 

Joseph was born in Newark, NJ. He worked as a mechanic and corrections office before joining the Newark Police Department in 1984. He retired in 2007 as a captain. 

He was predeceased by his parents John (Govine) and Anna Kashuba Macchia, a brother John (Sonny) Macchia and a sister, Barbara Harring. 

Joseph is survived by his wife Virginia Macchia, a son Joseph Macchia and a daughter Christina Davies and two granddaughters Sofia Macchia and Lailah Davies. He is also survived by a sister-in-law Theresa Macchia, nephew Jake Macchia and a niece Cathy Macchia.

 There are no words to describe what a special man, son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend he was. He would help anyone and everyone who needed it. He truly was one in a million. He certainly will be missed and in our hearts and thoughts everyday. Rest in peace Joe and take all our love with you. Heaven just gained another angel. 

The services for Joseph will be private, in the care of the Galante Funeral Home.
