Jorge M. Preguica born on December 11, 1961, in Portugal, peacefully departed from this world on February 11, 2024. He was a loving husband to Amelia and a devoted father to his son Michael and daughter-in-law Jane. Jorge was also a cherished brother to Aderito Preguica, Isabel de Jesus, and Paula Preguica. He took great joy in being a grandfather to Jayden Preguica.
Jorge led a remarkable life, leaving an indelible mark on the world around him. His career began with the NJ TPK Authority, where he worked diligently on bridges, showcasing his remarkable skills. Later on, he embarked on a new adventure as he started Madison Builders and working with George Hams Construction.
Throughout his life, Jorge had many passions which brought him immense happiness. He had an affinity for the beach and found solace in the act of fishing. The calming sound of the waves crashing against the shore was a symphony that resonated with his soul as well as his enjoyment of BBQs.
Jorge possessed an unwavering spirit of generosity and selflessness. Whenever someone needed a helping hand or a listening ear, he would be there without hesitation. His acts of kindness and compassion significantly impacted those around him, forever inspiring others to emulate his example.
Among his many interests, cars held a special place in Jorge's heart. He admired the craftsmanship and elegance of automobiles but reserved his utmost reverence for Mercedes vehicles.
In honor of Jorge's memory and to pay tribute to the life he lived, friends and family are invited to attend Jorge's visitation which will be held on February 15, 2024, at Galante Funeral Home situated at 2800 Morris Ave., Union beginning at 7:00 PM and conclude at 9:00 PM, providing an opportunity for loved ones to gather and share their fond memories of Jorge.
The funeral service will take place the following day, February 16, 2024, at Our Lady of Fatima Church, located at 79 Jefferson St, Newark, NJ. Starting at 9:30 AM and concluding at 10:30 AM. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Jorge's departure has created a void that cannot be filled. Yet let us remember him through the memories we shared with him and the legacy he leaves behind. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate his life. May we find solace in knowing that he now rests in eternal peace, forever watching over those who were lucky enough to have known him.
