John J. Riotto, 56 a beloved husband, son, brother, and uncle, passed away suddenly on February 24, 2026, in Union, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born in Hackensack, John spent his formative years in Elmwood Park, where he graduated from Elmwood Park Memorial High School.

John embarked on a fruitful career in communications, beginning with Motorola and later AT&T. However, it was his impressive thirty-year tenure as a copper and Fios lineman with Verizon that defined his professional life, culminating in his retirement just two years prior. His coworkers and friends remember him not only for his expertise but also for his warm spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand.

At the heart of John's life was his adoration for his wife, Antonia "Toni" Kostuk. Together, they savored the essence of life through moments shared on vacations to Cape May, creating a tapestry of memories that will forever be cherished. John's laughter and joy were particularly evident during his summer escapes to Wildwood, NJ, where he relished his childhood and formed the best memories that stayed with him throughout his life.

John had a kind spirit that extended beyond his immediate family. He was known for his love of animals, particularly the stray cats that would wander into his yard, a testament to his compassionate nature. His hobbies included playing both acoustic and electric guitars, a talent he cultivated through self-teaching, which allowed him to express his passion for rock music. He was also an avid summer gardener and took great pride in his tomato and pepper crops.

He is survived by his loving wife Toni, his devoted mother Maria, brother Richard and sister in-law Dana, brother Vinnie, as well as nephews Richie, Nicholas, Jack, and niece Alison, all of whom will deeply miss his warmth and humor.

John J. Riotto now joins the ranks of those who have passed before him, including his father, Vincent Riotto, father-in-law, Tony Kostuk and mother in-law Eleanor Kostuk. While his physical presence may be gone, the memories of his laughter, love, and unwavering spirit will remain etched in the hearts of all who knew him.
