John McGovern

John P. "John Brown" McGovern, 83 of High Bridge, formerly of Newark passed away peacefully on April 9, 2020.

Born in Newark, John was a down neck guy through and through. Known by his nickname John Brown, he was a longtime voting machine technician for the Essex County Board of Elections.

John was the loving stepfather of Ruddy Alvarez and his wife Heather; and devoted grandfather of Logan, Madison and Mason. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Janine Carissimo and her husband Peter, Joseph McGovern and his wife Lisbeth, Matthew McGovern and his wife Annika and Karen Mauro and her husband Sal; he was also the dear great-uncle of Alison, Kristen, Julia, Michael, Maddie, Ngaira, Maeve, Alyssa, Michele and Alexander.
