Joaquim F. Duraes

Joaquim F. Duraes, born on June 6, 1947, in Portugal, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

Joaquim was a devoted husband to Maria Duraes (nee Lopes), and a proud father to his daughters Carla Duraes and Susie Matos. His family expanded to include sons-in-law Sergio and Eugenio. As a grandfather, he found joy in the lives of his grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Matthew, Emanuel, and Michael, who were the light of his life.

Throughout his life, Joaquim was known for his passion for baseball as an avid Yankees fan.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation at the Galante Funeral Home in Union, NJ, on October 8, 2025, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. A Mass celebrating his life will take place on October 9, 2025, at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Elizabeth, NJ, starting at 10:00 AM, interment following at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia.

Joaquim F. Duraes will be dearly missed, but his memory will live on through the love he shared and the lives he touched.
