Beloved Wife, Mother and Nan

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Uzzolino announces her passing on Friday, June 22, 2018, at the age of 85 years.  Joan will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 64 years, Frank A. Uzzolino, Jr., and their children, Gary Uzzolino, Gina Uzzolino, Joan Uzzolino, as well as her daughters-in-law Dawn Uzzolino and Rhonda Uzzolino.  Joan was predeceased by her son, Frank A. Uzzolino, III.  Joan will be forever remembered as Nan by her 11 grandchildren, Rachel Uzzolino, Ryan Uzzolino, Kimberly Buschmann, Kailin Kreitz, Emily Levinson, Andrew Levinson, Frank Uzzolino, IV, Katherine Uzzolino, Caroline Uzzolino, Megan Uzzolino, and Shaye Kavanagh, as well as her great-grandchildren, Zoe Uzzolino, Leonardo Kreitz-Mateo, Cash Baker, and Hannah Buschmann.  Joan was the daughter of the late James and Alice Hanlon, the sister of Gertrude Casey and her husband, the late Peter Casey, the late Alec Hanlon and his wife, Marg Hanlon, the late Bernice Hanlon, James Hanlon and his wife the late Shirley Hanlon, the late Francis Hanlon, and Helen Woodrow and her husband, Edward Woodrow.  She is predeceased by brothers-in-law and spouses, Anthony and Vickie Uzzolino, Sam and Agnes Uzzolino.  Joan will be missed by her many nieces and nephews.  Joan was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, and moved to Newark, NJ with her husband, raising their children in Hillside, NJ.  Joan will always be remembered for her compassion for others, love of her family and sense of humor.  A memorial service will be held at Galante Funeral Home, Morris Avenue, Union, NJ on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 11:00 AM to celebrate Joan’s life with all that loved her dearly.
