Janet Ramas

Janet Reyes Ramas, 57, of Union, NJ, went peacefully to be with the Lord on May 2, 2025, at CarePoint Christ Hospital in Jersey City, NJ.

Born on September 7, 1967, in Mangaldan, Pangasinan, Philippines, Janet was known from a young age for her determination and strong work ethic. After completing her degree in nursing, she moved to the United States in her twenties, having been recruited to work as a Registered Nurse at Christ Hospital—where she went on to build a remarkable 34-year career. It was there that she met her beloved husband, Edwin Ramas, and where they welcomed their only daughter, Kathleen-Mae.

In 1999, Janet and her family moved to Union, NJ, where they have lived ever since. A dedicated ICU nurse, Janet earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues for both her professional excellence and her deep integrity. Many spoke of her as not just a brilliant nurse, but as someone whose presence enriched their lives.

Beyond her work, Janet was a woman of deep and abiding faith. Although she was raised in the Roman Catholic tradition, she committed her life to Jesus in 2007 while attending Good Shepherd Church in Springfield, NJ and became born again. In 2010, she and her family found their current church home at Evangel Church in Scotch Plains, where her faith continued to flourish. Even during her battle with cancer, Janet’s unshakable trust in God was a shining light to all who knew her. She never missed an opportunity to encourage others, and remind them that God was in control, that He is more than able, and that He loves them deeply.

Janet was predeceased by her parents, Romulo and Purita Reyes. She is survived by her devoted husband, Edwin Ramas; her cherished daughter, Kathleen-Mae Ramas and her husband Israel Awdren; and her beloved siblings: Edwin and Rose Reyes with their children; Aldan and Connie Reyes with their children; Arnel and MaryAnne Reyes and their son; Villa Reyes and her wife Judith Ambrocio and her son; and Rojan and Abigail Reyes with their children.

Janet’s legacy is one of compassion, strength, faith, and fierce love. She was a caregiver by profession, but also by nature. Her honest spirit, courageous independence, and profound care for others made her a true reflection of God’s design.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visitations on Tuesday May 13th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Wednesday May 14th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Thursday May 15th at 10:00 am meeting at Evangel Church in Scotch Plains. Cremation will be held privately.
