Irwyn "Butch" Alpert, 69 of Cranford passed away suddenly on November 16, 2024.
Funeral services are private, in the care of the Galante Funeral Home.
Born in the Bronx, Butch lived in Union and in Millburn for many years and has been a Cranford resident for the past five years. He worked as a Procurement specialist for ITT Technologies prior to his retirement.
Butch was a huge Grateful Dead fan and had a love for music. He was an enthusiastic cyclist, and proudly completed a trip on his bicycle across the United States. An avid reader, he always kept up with the latest politics and had a particularly keen interest in history. A big kid himself, Butch was endlessly devoted to his grandchildren, and never missed any of their events or games.
Butch was the beloved husband of Robin (nee Katz) Alpert; loving father of Ross Alpert and his wife Alexa and Sara Alpert; treasured grandfather of Max Alpert and Harper Alpert. He was also the dear brother of Freda Alpert; brother-in-law to Debi and Tom Fantacone; and uncle to Samantha Fantacone and Jack and Molly Hindenburg.
