Irene C. Wodkiewicz Wheat

Irene Carol Wodkiewicz Wheat, also known as Irene C.W. Wheat died on August 31, 2025.

She was the loving wife of the late Lawrence K. Wheat (June 8, 2020). Born in Newark, NJ to John C. and Felicia J. (nee Semak) Wodkiewicz, Irene resided in Newark until her marriage to Larry on May 17, 1981. For the remaining years of her life, she resided in Clark.

Upon graduating from Seton Hall University in 1978, she was an auditor for Samuel Klein & Co. CPAs. Since 1989, she was employed by the Borough of Glen Ridge, retiring as the Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer in 2015.

Irene is survived by numerous cousins both here in America and in Poland. She was the proud Godmother to Mia Niemiec, John Puchnowski, Angela Zhuo and Ryan Zhuo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Irene's visitation at the Galante Funeral Home (serving the legacy of the Parkway-Wozniak Memorial Home), 2800 Morris Ave. Union on Monday September 8 from 8:30 to 10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Agnes Church in Clark at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
