Hilda Frances Lall

Hilda Frances Lall, 95, of Elizabeth, New Jersey went home to be with The Lord on February 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

Hilda was born on December 2, 1928 to Ganesh Lall and Dora Lutchman in Boissiere #2, Maraval, Trinidad & Tobago. She was the eldest of eleven children and attended Boissiere #1 Roman Catholic School. Hilda was a homemaker and exemplary mother who embodied the best qualities of family: unconditional love, strength and unending generosity that was demonstrated in her care for her children, grandchildren and family. Hilda’s departure as our family matriarch is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others that loved her.

Hilda is predeceased by her parents, nine siblings and grandchildren, Brianna Spencer and Jason J. Lafortune. She is survived by her 5 children: Sandra Lall, Mario (Vidia) Lall, Trevor Lee, Steve (Joanne) Lee, and Sharon (Phillip) LaFortune; 15 grandchildren: Alicia (Douglas) Hahn, Denise Lall, Damien (Stephanie) Lall, Sabrina Lall, Ketia LaFortune, Aaron (Lela) Francis, Sheena (Tobi) Lall, Candice Lee, Nicole (Richard) LaFortune-Stewart, Steven (Denise) Lee, Brandon Lall, Phillip LaFortune, Ashley (Darryl) Jefferson, Amanda Lall, Shane Lall; 14 great-grandchildren: Adam Hahn, Lauren Hahn, Sean LaFortune, Briel Lall, Luke Hahn, Deven Sharma, Karina Francis, Carina Sharma, Jordan LaFortune, Dylan Lee Stewart, Remi Yerokun, Kiran Yerokun, Violet Dziegielewski, Shilo Jefferson; sister: Annie Hasranah. Hilda leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews and was a wonderful Tantie to Megan Dookwah.

Hilda, an avid swimmer and lover of the ocean is now sailing to shores we cannot see.

“Seeing death as the end of life is like seeing the horizon as the end of the ocean”.

A viewing will be held at Galante Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 20th, from 11:00am to 1:00pm, with a funeral service being held at 1:00pm at the conclusion of the viewing. Cremation will be held privately. There will also be a Zoom link for those unable to attend; it will be open from 10:30 am – 2:30 pm. Zoom Link
