Henry Guest was born on January 16, 1950 in Rutherfordton, NC to the late Annie Bell Guest and Robert Lee Guest, Sr.

He was preceded in death by his mother Annie Bell Whiteside Guest and by his brother

Robert Lee Guest Jr. (Rosella Guest)

Henry attended New Hope Elementary School in Rutherfordton, NC and later Proctor School in Avindale, NC. He later moved to Vauxhall, NJ along with  his mother, brother and sister in 1960. Henry started working as a landscaper shortly after moving to New Jersey. After meeting a man named Smitie, who owned a Cab company on Springfield Ave. across from the old Joe's Pizza in Vauxhall, Henry began driving for him. The two formed a special bond, and Henry moved in with Smitie and his wife. They were so welcoming, and Henry was blessed to be called their God Child. After a while, Henry had an accident with one of Smitie's cabs. After the insurance settlement, Henry used that money to purchase a truck. He then taught himself to be a truck driver.

While living with Smitie and his wife, Henry met Gail Joyiens. They were later married and formed a family along with Gail's son, Curtis Joyiens. Henry and Gail together had a son, Nasir Guest. After learning to drive his truck, Henry took a job driving across the country for a company in Freehold, NJ. Later on in life, Henry and Gail lost Curtis. Years later, the couple parted ways, and eventually divorced.

Preceded in death by his stepson Curtis Joyiens and later by his former wife Gail Joyiens Guest, Henry later met Mildred Wade. They married, and years later parted ways as well. Henry's step-children survive him: Steve Hoskins (late Jennifer Johnson), Charles Cromartie (Alicia Cromartie), Iesha Wilson (Jerrod Wilson) and Trenice Wade.

Henry battled illness for many years. The Lord kept bringing him through the battles, and he kept bouncing back, by the grace of our God.

Henry was a happy fun person who was well loved. He leaves to cherish his loving memory of his son Nasir Guest, and his girlfriend Tanya Wright, his grandchild Nasir Messiah Guest. He is also survived by his two sisters Lillie Mae Logan (late Joseph Lewis Logan) and Mary Ann Montgomery (Harold Lee Montgomery), by his sister-in-law Rosella Guest (Robert Guest), his beloved lady and best friend Sheila Braxton. He also leaves to cherish his memory many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Henry, you surely will be missed.

The family wishes to express their sincere, heartfelt appreciation for the outpouring of love from the community and from friends. They are very thankful for all of the phone calls, cards and love that have been shown. We thank God for his many blessings at this time.
