Gulmardo D."Papi"  Pargas, 83 of Elizabeth passed away peacefully at Runnells Center in Berkeley Heights on July 28, 2019.

Born in Palma Soriano, Cuba, Gulmardo lived with his family in Elizabeth for 46 years before moving into Runnells Center last year. Recognized as the "mayor" at Runnells, Papi was well loved, and made many friends. Having a longtime passion for working on cars, he was employed as an auto mechanic for many years. A passionate fan of the New York Yankees, Papi loved Latin dancing, and always enjoyed a nice, cold Budweiser, served over ice.

The son of the late Nicanor Pargas and Concepcion Morlot-Pargas, Gulmardo was the beloved husband of Maria Pargas (nee Cutillas-Lujo). He was the loving father of Miriam Ferreira and her husband Joseph, Gulmar J. Parga and his wife Denise, Ileana Botelho and her husband Joseph, and Amanda Pargas. He was the treasured Papi of Alisia, Anna and Alexander Pargas and his wife Ashley, Ethan and Ava Botelho, and Julia Parga. Gulmardo was predeceased by his loving sons Jose A. Pargas and Rolando Pargas. He is also survived by his brothers Nicanor Pargas, Hermes Nery Pargas, Holde Pargas, Rolando Florentino Pargas, and his sisters Olivia Parga and Magdaly Gonzalez.

Funeral services are private, in the care of the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave. Union.
