It is with deep, and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Velez, 59, of Union, on Thursday, December 29 at University Hospital in Newark surrounded by his loving family. He was a beloved father, grandfather, husband, brother and friend to all.

The funeral is from the Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Ave., Union, NJ on Saturday at 10 AM.  Burial to follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union. Visitation is Friday from 4 to 8 pm.

Born in Newark, raised in Vailsburg, Gregory lived in Union for the past 25 years.  He was a manager at Central Parking in NYC for 35 years, retiring in the spring of this year. Gregory coached for the Suffragettes Softball team in Union.

Father of Jennifer Velez Lukowicz and her husband Matt, Natalie Velez and her fiancé Joe Toltl; grandfather of Juliana; brother of Esther Martinez, Brenda Gennaro, and the late Israel Velez; also survived by Karyl Velez.
