Giuseppe “Pino” Comerci

February 11, 1947 - June 22, 2025

Giuseppe Comerci, 78 of Kenilworth, NJ, passed away on June 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Spilinga, Italy (Calabria) to the late Domenico Comerci and Domenica Miceli, Giuseppe moved to the United States in 1973 after marrying the love of his life, Lola Pugliese.

A proud longshoreman with Local 1235, Giuseppe dedicated decades of hard work before enjoying a well-earned retirement. He carried himself with a quiet strength and a strong work ethic.

Affectionately known to many as 'Pino,' he found great joy at the racetrack, where the thrill and excitement of the horse races, and the warmth of friendship brought him lasting happiness. Whether quietly placing a bet or simply watching with his familiar smile, the track was a cherished place for him; nothing made him happier than sharing his winnings with his seven grandchildren, nieces and nephews. When he wasn’t at the track, you could find him sharing a meal, glass of homemade wine and a cup of espresso with his family.

Pino is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Lola (Pugliese) and their three daughters; Donna Mezzo (Jimmy) of Palm Coast, FL, Ida Licata (Chris) of Kenilworth, and Annie Basile (Anthony) of Mountainside and their grandchildren; Maria, Annalisa, Gianna, Francesca, Michael, Cristiana and Christian. He is also survived by his brother, Francesco and many sisters in law, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Pino is predeceased by his brothers Nicola and Antonio, sister Rosa, and many brothers and sisters in law.

Services to honor Pino’s life including a visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25th from 4pm to 8pm at Galante Funeral Home at 2800 Morris Avenue in Union. A funeral mass will take place on Thursday, June 26th, at 10:30am at St. Theresa's Roman Catholic Church at 541 Washington Ave in Kenilworth. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park at 1801 Galloping Hill Road in Kenilworth.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Kenilworth Rescue Squad or PBA.
