Gina Fernandez

Gina Fernandez, 65 of Maplewood passed away on January 6, 2026. Born in Newark, Gina's life journey took her through the neighborhoods of Maplewood and Mays Landing, before she eventually returned to Maplewood, a place that always held a special significance in her heart.

Gina was a waitress at Parkwood Diner outside of her professional life, Gina had a deep love for spending time at Sandy Hook, where she found solace and joy. 

Gina was cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her loving husband, Julio; her niece, Nicole and her husband Mark; her nephew, Joe and his wife Krystal and her sister-in-law Lillian. She also leaves behind her sister, Lisa Ferro, who shared many treasured moments with her; and her adored great-nieces and great-nephew Katie, Dominic, Bella, Olivia and Ava Rose. Gina's beloved pets, her dog Willow and cat Cece, were constant companions in her life, bringing her joy and comfort.

Gina is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Jean Rocco, and her brother the late Joseph Rocco. She is also remembered alongside her late dog Toby and late cat Wally, who were both dearly missed.

Cremation will be held privately. Professional services are entrusted to the Galante Funeral Home in Union.
