George R. Zimmerman 96 of Union NJ passed away on July 1, 2023

Husband of the late Louise (nee Gazzo)

Father of Carol Ann DiZio ( late Steve), Jean Louise Goglia (late Carmen) and Marie Frances Brewer.

Brother in law to Honey Yacovelli

Grandfather of Joseph Goglia, Christopher DiZio, Matthew Goglia, Michael DiZio, Joseph DiZio and Frank Brewer.

Also many loving nieces and nephews

George was born in Newark.  He was an Army Veteran of WWII. After the war he worked for the Conrail System (Amtrack)  in Newark as a ticket agent for many years.

George graduated from Barringer HS in Newark. While there he was the captain of the Cross Country Team, played Softball and Basketball as well. After graduating he continued to play sports well into his 70's.  George was an avid Yankee fan.

Visitation at the Galante Funeral Home 2800 Morris Ave Union on Thursday from 9 - 11 AM, with a wake service at 10:30 AM, followed by interment at Restland Memorial Park in East Hanover NJ.
