Frank A. Uzzolino, Jr.
Beloved Husband, Father and Gramps
Frank A. Uzzolino, Jr. passed away peacefully on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the age of 95. A man of immense charm and devotion, Frank leaves behind a legacy defined by his service to his country and his unwavering love for his family.
Born in Newark, NJ, on June 20, 1930, Frank was the son of the late Frank and Carmella Uzzolino. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955. While stationed in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada, fate stepped in when he met Joan Hanlon. The two married and eventually settled in Hillside, NJ to raise their family, and spent 64 beautiful years together before Joan's passing in 2018.
Affectionately known as "Gramps," Frank’s greatest joy was his role as a patriarch. He was the beloved father of Gary Uzzolino, Gina Uzzolino, Joan Uzzolino, and the late Frank A. Uzzolino, III. His warmth and stories will be forever cherished by his daughters- in-law, Dawn and Rhonda; his eleven grandchildren: Rachel, Ryan, Kimberly, Kailin, Emily, Andrew, Frank IV, Katherine, Caroline, Megan, and Shaye; and his seven great-grandchildren.
Frank was predeceased by his brothers Anthony (Vicki) and Sammy (Agnes). He was a dear brother-in-law to the late Gertrude and Pete Casey, Alec and Marg Hanlon, Shirley Hanlon, and Francis Hanlon. He is survived by his brother-in-law James Hanlon and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Helen and Edward Woodrow, as well as a large community of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Beyond his family, Frank was a legendary fan of the New York Yankees, rarely missing a chance to cheer on his team. He will be remembered for his charismatic spirit, his sharp wit, and the gentle way he cared for those he loved.
A memorial visitation to celebrate Frank’s remarkable 95 years and to honor Joan's life will be held at Galante Funeral Home, 2800 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ, on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Church in Hillside at 11 AM. Inurnment for Frank and Joan will follow at St. Teresa Cemetery in Summit.
