Emma F. Vazquez

Emma F. Vazquez, 91, of Mountainside, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 22,2026.

Born in Puerto Rico, Emma lived in Manhattan, Queens, and New Jersey throughout her life. She worked for the United States Postal Service in Manhattan, where she dedicated many years of service.

Emma was an active member of St. Mary's Church in Closter, New Jersey, where she enjoyed participating in the church's women's group. Alongside the other women, she lovingly crocheted prayer shawls that were later blessed and given to parishioners, offering warmth, comfort, and a reminder of faith and compassion.

Emma is survived by her loving daughter, Grace Vazquez, and her husband, Odilo; her brother, Juan; her cherished grandchildren, Elena and Victor; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Liliana and Sebastian.

She was predeceased by her daughter, Elena Goycoechea; her brother, Michael; and her sister, Carmen Perez.

Emma will be remembered for her faith, and the kindness she shared with those around her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A visitation will be held for Emma on Monday, October 26, from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Galante Funeral Home located at 2800 Morris Avenue in Union. A mass will be held on Tuesday, October 27, at 10:00 a.m. at Lady of Lourdes Church located in Mountainside. Entombment will follow at St. Teresa in Summit.
