Elaine Lorenzo Petrancosta of Mantoloking, NJ passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, January 23rd, 2012, in Mumbai, India.
A graduate of East Orange Catholic High School and Montclair State University, Elaine's professional career spanned the globe from New York City to Hong Kong. She first served as an actuary at Frank B Hall (New York) and Don Smith (Princeton). Upon relocating to Asia, she was among the first female executives with Jardine-Matheson Insurance Brokers (Hong Kong). Always orchestrating the merging of individuals, she was an active member of the American Women's Associations (AWA) in Hong Kong and Singapore, the Kensington Chelsea Women's Club in London, The League of Women Voters, and The Helena May. Having first lived in Mercerville and then Short Hills, NJ, Elaine and her husband Sal ventured abroad, residing in Singapore, Hong Kong and London.
Beginning their family in Asia, Elaine was the heart of two homes, dividing her time between Hong Kong and the Jersey Shore.
A life lived with dignity and filled with love; Elaine epitomized the true values of family and fostered the precious bonds of friendship. An inspiration by her strength, endurance and courage, she embraced people from all walks of life with her generosity and indomitable spirit uniting them across the continents.
She rests in the arms of her father, Charles G. and her brother, Robert who have gone before her. She is survived by her devoted husband Salvatore; loving sons Justin and Vincent and daughter-in-law Akanksha; her mother Jennie (nee Meola) Lorenzo; and siblings Charles, Anthony, Brian, Yvonne and Marty Lorenzo, and their families.
All family and loved ones are invited to gather at the Weatherhead Young Funeral Home 885 Mantoloking Road, Brick, N.J. on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 7-9 PM, and Thursday, February 2nd, from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral is on Friday February 3rd, 2012, at 9:30 am at the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Sacred Heart Church, 751 Main Ave. Bayhead on at 11 AM.
