Douglas Rivera

Douglas Rivera, 65 of Union passed away on May 6, 2025, just shy of his 66th birthday.

Funeral services are private, in the care of the Galante Funeral Home.

Born in Newark, Douglas, also known affectionately as "Blackie", "Junior", or "Black Junior" was raised at Seth Boyden Terrace in the South Ward. He has been a Union resident for the past eight years. In his younger days, Douglas owned and operated a nightclub with his friend Francisco. He most recently worked as a vinyl printer. An avid fan of the New York Mets and the New York Giants, Douglas loved to dance and was an exceptional cook. A great person who will be sorely missed, he treasured days spent with his loving family, and especially cherished seeing his adored nieces.

Douglas was the devoted son of the late Juani Maria Rivera Santiago. He is survived by his beloved partner Diana Gonzalez; dear siblings Marines and Raul; loving mother-in-law Dora; Aunt Milagros, nieces Xiomara, Quimarie and Asialy, and by his faithful dog Suerte.
